With 11 Deaths & 4189 New Cases, Odisha Sees Another Big Surge In Covid-19 Tally

Bhubaneswar: Odisha yet again recorded a huge spike in Covid-19 cases with the detection of 4189 positives in the last 24 hours, which took the infection tally to 188311 on Tuesday.

Out of the fresh cases, 2453 were reported in quarantine and 1736 cases are local contacts.

Khordha district has once again reported highest 712 positive cases followed by Cuttack (586), Puri (265), Sundergarh (201), Jajpur (187), Mayurbhanj (174), and Balasore (150 cases).

The coronavirus toll also rose to 721 as the State reported 11 more deaths during the period, informed the Odisha health department.

Two deaths each have been reported from Malkangiri, Ganjam, Bolangir, and Balasore; while three more persons succumbed- one each in Khordha, Puri and Bhadrak districts.

Odisha now has 38158 active cases and 149379 recoveries, the department said.

As per sources, 45676 samples were tested on Monday for COVID-19 that include 7899 RT-PCR, 37649 samples via Antigen testing, and 128 samples via Truenat testing, taking the number of samples tested cumulatively across the state to 2860410.
