50 More Officers, 5 Platoons Of Armed Police To Enforce COVID-19 Guidelines In Twin City

Bhubaneswar: As many as 50 more police officers and five platoons of armed policemen will be deployed in the Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to strictly enforce COVID-19 guidelines as the pandemic situation in the cities seems to have reached to an alarming level.

Odisha police chief Abhay on Thursday said that the deployment of the police force is to ensure strict compliance of the COVID norms in the Twin City.

He further said that Bhubaneswar will be divided into three zones and each zone will have a DCP level officer to ensure stricter enforcement of the guidelines.

Besides, the enforcement teams will keep a vigil eye on the COVID-19 hotspot areas in the cities, he added.

The move by the State police came a day after Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed concerns and stressed for stricter enforcement of COVID-19 guidelines in the Twin city in view of the rising number of cases.
