Cuttack: All lower courts and tribunals across the State will resume their functions as per the schedule from today. However, all the court proceedings will be done via video conferencing.
According to a directive issued by the Orissa High Court (HC), the functioning of courts will remain suspended in the areas where the administration has imposed lockdown or shutdown restrictions in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
Similarly, the places where internet connection is poor or some technical snags are there, the proceedings can be done in the court premises by abiding all COVID-19 norms, the directive said, adding that, a witness or accused must not be forced to appear before the court unless required.
On the other hand, the HC will continue to function as per the schedule through virtual mode. New cases can be filed by email, e-filing or drop box, said a notification issued by High Court Registry.
