Odisha: Online Registration For Darshan At Puri Jagannath Temple, Discussions Underway

Puri: Devotees of Lord Jagannath have been deprived darshan at Lord Jagannath temple here for the last five months. With Unlock 3.0 restrictions have been lifted on religious institutions. Now, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) is mooting to implement a system in which limited number of devotees will be allowed darshan on a daily basis.

A meeting in this context is underway at Puri where members of Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee, servitors and Puri district administration and police are discussing the modalities of this proposed arrangement.

The proposal for reopening of Srimandir for devotees, is likely to take shape by today or in a couple of days. As per the proposal, the devotees need to register online for darshan at Jagannath Temple in Puri. The submission of identity proof and COVID-19 test report on the website will be mandatory for devotees.

The devotees will be allotted the time and date for darshan. The preference will be given to devotees from Puri district for darshan of deities at the temple. Only limited number of devotees will be given chance for darshan inside the temple everyday, senior servitor and member of the Managing Committee Ramchandra Das Mohapatra said.

“There is discussion is process. The proposal for online booking by devotees for darshan is being considered. The decision will be taken after the proposal is passed at the meeting,” Das Mohapatra added.
