Puri Collector Visited To Micro-Composting Centres

The Collector, Puri Sri Balwant Singh today made field visits to various Micro-Composting Centres(MCC) and Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) and took stock of the progress of the new, under construction MCCs today such as one MCC at Talabania, two MCCs at Masanichandi and one at Baliapanda and sets the target for the speedy completion of the new projects. All the upcoming MCC projects will be completed by 26th January and will be inaugurated and dedicated to civic service on the republic day. Out of the proposed 11 MCCs in Puri Municipality, 6 are presently functional and 4 will be ready in the next four weeks. The Collector interacted with the Swachh Sathis who were busy at waste processing work at the MCCs and MRFs. He checked the compost being generated at the MCCs and reviewed its storage and sale. The sale of the compost has already kickstarted as many farmers and buyers have started buying compost from the MCCs. The Puri Municipality will soon be holding a meeting with progressive farmers in order to boost the sale of compost for use in organic farming. The Collector also visited the site for the proposed ‘Construction Material and Demolition Waste (C&D Waste) dumping and recycling plant at Samanga with the revenue and municipality team. Later, he visited the Park under construction at Baliapanda and reviewed the progress.

He directed that the park must be ready by January 26th and dedicated to the public on the day. The Executive Officer of the Puri Municipality Sri Bijoy Kumar Dash accompanied him in the field visits.Early on the day, the Collector also visited the construction site for the Model Hygenic Fish Market( MHFM) at Talbania which is being constructed with a budget of 6 crore rupees. It is going to be multi-storied and will accommodate around 200 vending facilities for the fish retailers. The ground floor of this fish market will be ready by May next year. The collector directed the Puri Municipality officials to start a temporary fish market at a large plot near the Talbania MHFM site. Sanitation Patrolling to be done in Talabania plantation area in the night to check any dumping of waste materials on the roadside there and CCTVs will be installed in half a kilometre stretch there to keep surveillance on such civic offenders.
