Bhubaneswar: Four Maoists have been killed in an encounter with police on Kalahandi-Kandhamal border, informed Kalahandi SP on Wednesday.
On the basis of a reliable intelligence input, Kalahandi Police had launched an operation along Kalahandi-Kandhamal border on Tuesday (September 8).
In this operation, two composite teams of SOG and DVF had participated. An exchange of fire took place in today (September 9) at around 11.00 AM.
When subjected to heavy firing from the Maoists, one team of SOG and DVF resorted to retaliatory fire. The exchange of fire lasted for half an hour.
In this exchange of fire four Maoists were killed and one SOG Jawan injured. More teams of SOG, DVF and CRPF have been sent to the area for combing and search operation.
