Bhubaneswar Central MLA Ananta Jena’s Personal Security Officer Dies Of COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: The personal security officer of Bhubaneswar Central MLA Ananta Narayan Jena has died of coronavirus infection here, officials said on Sunday.

The deceased, Constable Ashish Mahakul belonged to Bhubaneswar Reserve. He served the seventh battalion for 20 years before joining the police in 1995. He is survived by his wife and 2 sons.

The legislator too had contracted the infection on August 20. Along with Jena, his driver and PSO Mahakul’s samples were also sent for testing. After testing positive all three of them were advised home quarantine.

However, on August 21 Mahakul complained of difficulty in breathing. He was then admitted to Hi-Tech Hospital. He was then moved to ICU and put on ventilator as his condition further deteriorated.

The Bhubaneswar Police paid respects to the mortal remains of the brave officer and bid the final goodbye.
