Jharsuguda Will Soon Have Direct Flight Connectivity With Mumbai & Bengaluru

Jharsuguda: People in and around Jharsuguda will soon be able to fly to Mumbai and Bengaluru as flight services from the Veer Surendra Sai Airport is expected to start from October 25 onwards.

The good news was shared by Kishore Kumar Senapati, the airport’s Director.

Senapati said, “The new flight services will be under UDAN-RCS scheme. The Airport Authority of India has given its nod and carrier SpiceJet has requested for slot timings.” Notably, UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) is a regional airport development and “Regional Connectivity Scheme” (RCS) of Government of India, with the objective of “letting the common citizen of the country fly”, aimed at making air travel affordable and widespread.

The Jharsuguda Airport resumed services after Centre’s order for the same as part of Unlock 1.0 from May 25. Currently, SpiceJet is commuting passengers from Jharsuguda to New Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata; and Alliance Air to Bhubaneswar and Kolkata.
