COVID-19: Is Odisha Showing A Downward Trend?

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to bring the COVID-19 pandemic under control, Odisha has ramped up its sample testing and daily more than 50,000 samples have been tested since the last three days. With over 50K tests each day, it was seen that the number of positive cases fell on Monday.

While 2244 new COVID-19 cases were detected today, a total of 50,421 samples were tested on Sunday. Similarly, on Sunday 2924 cases were detected and 52,795 samples were tested. On Saturday 2496 cases were detected while 47,887 samples were tested.

The drop in cases might be pointing towards a downward trend in Odisha. However, Additional Chief Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Pradipta Kumar Mahapatra said that this might be a positive sign but it is still too early to form a concrete opinion.

Of the total of 50,421 samples that were tested for COVID-19 on Sunday, 5639 were RT-PCR, 44,640 were Antigen and 142 were TrueNat tests.
