Ancient Gold Coin Found In Jajpur, Odisha

Jajpur: An ancient gold coin was spotted by a local at Radhanagar village here today. A farmer recovered the coin from his field. The coin weighs 7.5 grams and has two holes on the top. On either sides, there is something written in an old language.

At the centre stands a man of royal descent holding a torch. The other side of the coin depicts an animal. Radhanagar falls under Dharmasala block of the district. In the past, ancient materials connected to Buddhism have been recovered from Radhanagar and its nearby localities.

The locals said, the language appears to be Mandarin while the man in the coin is a Chinese king. However, the coin has been preserved for further research.
