Bijaya Sahoo Edupreneur From Odisha Succumbs To Post-COVID Complications

Bhubaneswar: Advisor-cum-Working President of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS) Bijaya Kumar Sahoo succumbed to post-COVID complications at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Thursday. He was 58.

According to sources, the chartered accountant-turned-edupreneur was admitted to Ashwini Hospital, Cuttack, after testing positive for the virus in May. His condition, however, deteriorated and he was taken in an air ambulance to KIMS, Hyderabad, for advanced treatment later that month.

He was under extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment for the past few days.

He had to undergo a lung transplant, but breathed his last while undergoing treatment in the afternoon, the sources added.

Sahoo was also the founder of SAI International Education Group.

Mourning his death, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik tweeted: “As Advisor of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan, he had a pioneering role in transforming Govt School education.”
