Weather Alert: Rain &Thundershower Predicted In Odisha Over Next 24 Hours by IMD

Bhubaneswar: Most of the districts of Odisha are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershower during the next 24 hours, according to the latest weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

“Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha for the next 24 hours,” the bulletin said.

The IMD has issued an ‘Orange Warning’ predicting thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and hailstorm very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj over the next 24 hours.

Similarly, it has issued a ‘Yellow Warning’ indicating thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, and Kandhamal.

In the State Capital-Bhubaneswar and its neighbourhood, the sky will be partly cloudy with the possibility of moderate rain/thunderstorm while the maximum and minimum temperature is very likely to be around 36 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

The IMD bulletin has said that maximum temperature is very likely to rise 3-5 degrees today at many places over the districts in the State and there will be no large change thereafter.

Below is the IMD’s weather outlook for the districts for the next five days:

Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of 12.05.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 13.05.2021).

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Orange Warning (To be prepared): 1.Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph and hailstorm very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

Yellow Warning (To be updated): 2. Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Kandhamal.

Day 2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 13.05.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 14.05.2021).

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and at a few places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada. Also, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Gajapati.

Day 3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 14.05.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 15.05.2021).

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Malkangiri, Koraput, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada, Kandhamal and dry weather likely to prevail over the rest of districts of Odisha.

Yellow Warning (To be updated): Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Rayagada, Kandhamal.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 15.05.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 16.05.2021).

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.

Day 5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 16.05.2021 up to 0830 hrs IST of 17.05.2021).

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati and dry weather likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha.
