COVID-19: Testing To Start At Private Labs And Fever Clinics In Cuttack, Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 testing will soon start at private labs and fever clinics within Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) area, CMC Commissioner Ananya Das said. Total 1,004 cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Cuttack city out of which 576 have recovered. “To further check the spread of COVID-19 we will intensify testing at different levels,” she said.

Currently, in Cuttack city there are four mobile units collecting samples and testing is being carried out at four centres. Besides, 15 rapid response teams are also collecting samples. “Currently, our focus is on Behera Sahi where the positivity rate is high. This place is densely populated and risk of exposure is also hgih here,” she said.

Das added that CMC is implementing Unlock 3.0 guidelines by calibrated easing of restrictions. In this regard, a meeting will be held with bazar committees today. “We need to be more careful as the restrictions are relaxed and economic activities open up, she said. In the last 6 days 336 COVID cases were detected in Cuttack city.

Principal Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Saurabh Garg, who is in-charge of Cuttack district for COVID management said that a 100 bed COVID hospital is coming up in Cuttack. At present there are total 2,300 beds in the district for COVID patients. There are 150 COVID Care Homes in Cuttack, he informed.

“Total 2,300 COVID cases have been detected in Cuttack district till today. We are focussing on containment zones and returnees. Our testing capacity will be centered on these,” Garg said. Till now 36,000 samples have been tested in Cuttack.
