COVID-19: 2495 Beds Available For Covid-19 Patients In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: As many as 870 beds are available in Covid Care Homes in six locations across the city for asymptomatic and suspected cases, said Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary informing on Covid management facilities in the Odisha capital.

Addressing a presser on Covid management in the capital city at the Geeta Govinda Sadan here, Chaudhary said that 540 beds are available for asymptomatic and very mild symptomatic cases in two Covid Care Centres at Hi-tech Hospital and SIDBI, Jayadev Vihar.

The BMC Commissioner stated that there are two dedicated Covid Hospitals KIMS and Sum Hospital in the city for serious and more critical patients.

He added that a combined total of 1025 beds are available in these two hospitals.

Chaudhary further said that there is a dedicated Covid Health Centre at Patia with 60 beds for mild to moderate and asymptomatic cases.

The BMC Commissioner informed that in addition to the aforementioned facilities there are Covid facilities in nearby areas which basically are for use by Khordha rural but are being used by us in the event of need.

These nearby facilities are Neelanchal Hospital with 126 beds which includes 15 ICU beds, 500 beds at Jamujhari Covid Care Centre and 200 beds at Jatani Covid Care Centre, he added.

Chaudhary stated that there are plans to establish more hospitals and Covid Care Centres.

He said that the BMC has already signed agreement with Aditya Ashwini Hospital to set up a 150 bedded Covid Care Hospital and added that it will become functional by Monday.

He said that BMC is setting up a Covid Care Centre at Dumduma and added that several industries have expressed willingness to set up 250 bedded facility for Covid Care Centre.
