The Collector, Puri, Sri Balwant Singh, IAS, today visited the Kamala Devi Mantri Maternity UPHC on the station road with CDM&PHO PURI and held interactive discussions with the doctors, staff nurses, ANMs, and all the Asha Workers of Puri municipality and other medical staff. He oversaw the infrastructural and lab facilities at the hospital and expressed satisfaction. he asked all health dept staff to provide quality services to every patient and beneficiary . He directed that deliveries of all pregnant mothers in the town should be conducted at the KDMM UPHC and only complicated cases should be referred to the District Headquarters Hospital. Similarly, all ANC, PNC, immunisation, family planning activities etc should be done here. Two OG specialists will be given additional responsibility to support the existing four doctors in case of emergency. He stressed on the need to strengthen the Urban Mamata Divas programmes and asked the ANMs and Asha Workers to discourage any referral to a private hospital. He interacted with a delivery patient and collected her feedback about the services rendered by the hospital. He directed that one dedicated OT be constructed at KDMM hospital immediately. Presently, this 12 bedded hospital is fully equipped to conduct 10 deliveries daily. In order to check the decrease in sex ratio, the CDMPHO Dr. Mishra emphasised on the need for early registration of pregnancies in the first trimester.
