Villagers build a huge Ice Stupa Artificial baby glacier measuring 8.3 Million litres of frozen winter water

Ladkah: Tarchit is a small village 75 km from Leh in the Rong area on the Nyoma road. It is a beautiful village where some 30 families live in harmony with nature.

This year the villagers build a huge Ice Stupa Artificial baby glacier measuring 8.3 Million litres of frozen winter water.
This July 16th we organised the annual Ice Stupa Awards in Tarchit village as it was one of the winners.
From one Phyang village till 2017 to 12 villages in 2018, the building of Ice Stupas got bigger with 16 villages across Ladakh participating in the Ice Stupa competition held for the second time this year.
Every year, on the occasion of World Water Day, Ice Stupa competition results are announced. However, this year, due to CoVID-19, the event got delayed and the results were announced yesterday in association with the villagers of Tarchit!
The winning team of 2019-20 Ice Stupa competition is Igoo (8.5 million litres), followed by Tarchit securing second position (8.3 million litres) and Phyang securing third position (6#icestupainternational #hialuniversity #alternative #learning #education #ecorestoration.5 million litres).
The cash prize award was Rs 5, 3 & 2 Lakhs for securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Stongdey Village was also felicitated with Rs. 1 Lakh for their marvellous effort in building an ice stupa.
The preparation of upcoming Ice Stupa competition this winter has started already and we hope to have more and more villages participating next year!
