Koksara: They say love known no bounds and no hindrances. The fairytale ending in the case of Rajaram Thakur and Dutia Harijan bears ample testimony to this fact. The two recently exchanged wedding vows inside the quarantine centre in Banjibahal village under Jaypatna block in Kalahandi district. Both are from the same village.
Rajaram started working at a garment company in Bangalore. However, he lost his job when the nationwide lockdown was implemented to prevent the spread of the pandemic coronavirus.
“Without income, the couple decided to return to their native village. When restrictions were eased they returned to Banjibahal village and spent 14 days at the quarantine centre set up at Kaudola Panchayat High School under Koksara block..”
After their arrival, both decided to meet their families. When they did so after the 14-day isolation period, they asked for forgiveness. They also expressed their desire to tie the nuptial knot.
Sarpanch Jambubati Sahu played an important role in the whole process. He held discussions with both families. As the two belonged to the same caste, the families did not object to the marriage between Rajaram and Dutia.
Accordingly the date was fixed for Monday and Rajaram and Dutia exchanged wedding vows inside the quarantine centre in the presence of the village sarpanch and family members and other inmates of the centre. The question, however, is why outsiders were allowed to enter the quarantine centre.
