Simmba’ duo Rohit Shetty, Ranveer Singh team up for upcoming comedy-drama ‘Cirkus



A year after filmmaker Rohit Shetty paired up with entertainment powerhouse Ranveer Singh for cop universe instalment ‘Simmba’, the dynamic duo has reunited for upcoming comedy-drama ‘Cirkus’.

The film is reportedly based on Shakespeare’s play ‘The Comedy of Errors’.

According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, the film will also feature Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Varun Sharma, Siddhartha Jadhav, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Vrajesh Hirjee, Vijay Patkar, Sulbha Arya, Mukesh Tiwari, Anil Charanjeett, Ashwini Kalsekar, and Murli Sharma.

The project will go on floors next month and will be shot extensively in Mumbai, Goa and Ooty.

It is slated to release around winter 2021.

On the other hand, ‘Sooryavanshi’ is another commercial outing from Rohit Shetty’s cop-universe. It features Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles.

The film is eyeing a theatrical release window between January and March 2021, after being pushed from its planned Diwali opening, Reliance Entertainment Group CEO Shibasish Sarkar told PTI.

‘Sooryavanshi’ is the fourth film in Shetty’s cop universe after Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham’, ‘Singham Returns’, and ‘Simmba’.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh starrer ’83’, which chronicles the historical victory of the Indian team in 1983 cricket world cup, has secured a release date near Christmas this year.

Directed by Kabir Khan the sports-drama ’83’ features Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev. The film revisits India’s first World Cup win in 1983.
