Kendrapada: Five members of a family are in a critical condition after their ‘house was set on fire’ by miscreants in the wee hours of the morning. The unfortunate incident occurred in Girang village under Marshaghai Police limits of Kendrapada district.
A 20-day-old baby is also one of the family members who got grievous burn injuries. The identities are yet to be ascertained.
The incident is said to have occurred at about 3-3.30 am today morning. Sources said that both entries of the house were locked and the house might have been set on fire intentionally. Hearing the family’s cries, neighbours broke in through the skylight and rescued them.
Upon intimation, the Fire service personnel also arrived at about 4 am and helped in the rescue operation. They also enabled the transportation of the family to the Kendrapada DHH. The Fire service personnel were able to douse the fire but it had damaged most of the house by then.
As per latest reports, the family has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack as their condition worsened.
