Odisha: 211 COVID Warriors Among 1,614 Affected In Cuttack District

Bhubaneswar: Total 1,614 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Cuttack district till Sunday. Out of these 483 are active case while 1,116 persons have recovered. In Cuttack, 211 COVID warriors have been infected by the virus while 38 among them are still active cases, Agriculture Secretary Saurabh Garg said.

Addressing a media briefing here, Garg who is the COVID Observer for Cuttack district said, 612 cases have been reported from Cuttack Municipal Corporation area while 1,002 cases are from Cuttack rural.

“We have shutdown all temporary medical camps as the number of migrants returning home is negligible. Rather we have setup 64 cluster TMCs in the district. Besides, there are 373 Covid Care Homes (CCH) in the Cuttacj with around 4,000 beds,” he added.

“In total. there are 6,500 beds where asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic cases can be admitted. At present 10 of these beds are occupied and we are well prepared in terms of bed capacity,” said Garg.

He urged people to join as COVID volunteers at CCHs and the persons who have recovered to donate plasma. Trace, test and treat will be the guiding principle. Garg requested that anyone with ILI and SARI should contact the COVID management committees.

71% Of COVID-19 Cases In Cuttack City Are Contacts Of Previous Positive Cases

Cuttack: Around 71 percent of cases of COVID-19 detected in the Cuttack city in the last week are contacts of previous positive cases, informed Commissioner of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Ananya Das, on Sunday.

As per an analysis, the 71 percent cases are either the co-workers, family members, or immediate neighbours of the previous positive cases. Around 30 to 40 cases have been found in some clusters and all of them are from single family or nearby families, said Das.

“Through this, we have received feedback that there is a need to check the transmission within family. In this context I would request all residents of Cuttack to protect the senior citizens and children in the joint families by following the protocols of Home Quarantine,” she added.

The remaining cases are those with travel history, local contacts and those who are institutional quarantine. Many of the SARI-ILI cases from fever clinics and active surveillance cases are included in this number.

Das said that a total of 264 cases have been detected in the last week i.e. from July 19 to 24. Among them 187 are contacts of previous positive cases, 39 are local contacts, 13 are with a travel history and 25 are in Quarantine.
