The festival which saw a sea of devotees thronging to the pilgrim city every year was forced to be conducted in a restrained manner this year. Strictly following the guidelines set by the Supreme Court, the city is all set to host the majestic festival without any devotees.

The devotees can experience the fervour and the tranquillity of the festival through the lensmen eyes as the whole festival is live-streamed and millions are watching it on their television sets.

” But the technicians behind the lens of different news channels are experiencing something which they had not even dreamt of before. None of the local news persons along with the camerapersons were allowed to enter the barricaded stretch and was moved to a single terrace from which they had to capture the visuals of the Lord and His Siblings “

Only the national channel Doordarshan is streaming the whole event live.

“Every year, we were able to capture various visuals, close-ups of the Lord but this year, the situation is

ltogether different. It is the Lord’s wish. We are happy that the great festival is being held in spite of so many hurdles, though there is a bit of disappointment of not being able to capture shots as per our preference,” said a senior cameraperson of a leading regional channel.

Nonetheless, all are elated that the Supreme Court has allowed to conduct the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra in Puri, although with restrictions.
